Eligibility for Energy Rebates

Who can apply for this rebate program?

The program is available to Xcel Energy customers in Minnesota only.

What types of projects qualify?

Lighting projects are eligible. HVAC, refrigeration, or other upgrades are not included.

Is there a size limit for facilities?

Yes. The program applies to facilities with ≤ 400 kW demand during “shoulder” months and ≤ 8,000 sq. ft. of combined flower and veg canopy.

Does new construction qualify?

No. Rebates are only available for existing buildings, not new construction.

Who can receive the rebate payment?

Rebates can be allocated directly to the end user or assigned to a third party, such as a contractor or equipment supplier.

How to Apply for a Rebate

What is the first step in the rebate process?

We start by confirming your program eligibility based on your facility address.

What information do I need to provide?

You’ll need to share the total canopy square footage, number of fixtures for flower and/or veg, annual operating hours per room, and estimated project costs. A fixture spec sheet (wattages and PPE) is also required.

Will I get a cost and savings estimate?

Yes. We’ll create a detailed report showing your project cost, rebate amount, payback period, and estimated energy savings before moving forward.

How do I reserve rebate funds?

A signed Customer Participation Agreement is required to lock in your rebate allocation.

What happens once the project is completed?

We’ll help complete and submit all rebate paperwork once the project is done and final invoices are received.

What documentation is needed at finalization?

An itemized invoice with make, model number, quantity, and each fixture’s serial number is required for rebate processing.

Are inspections required?

Yes. 100% of grow projects are inspected by both CEE and Xcel Energy.

When do inspections take place?

Inspections are scheduled between 6 weeks and 1 year after submission. To qualify, lights must be operational and plants must be present under each fixture.
