Eligibility for Energy Rebates

Who can apply for this rebate program?

Licensed growers in California with a valid cultivation permit are eligible if 70% or more of the annual energy use on their meter is for agricultural purposes.

Does this apply to both indoor and outdoor grows?

Yes. Both greenhouse and outdoor cultivators can qualify for PG&E’s agricultural energy rate and rebate programs.

Are residential home growers eligible?

No. At this time, PG&E does not offer a cannabis-specific rate for personal or residential cultivation. Residential customers can still choose the rate plan that best fits their energy needs.

Does bud processing count as agricultural use?

No. Only cultivation qualifies. Processing activities do not meet PG&E’s agricultural energy use requirements.

How to Apply for a Rebate

What documentation is required to apply?

You must submit your cultivation permit from your local jurisdiction within 14 days of requesting a rate change.

How Much Could I Save?

What kind of savings are available?

Savings come from qualifying for PG&E’s agricultural rate, which typically costs less than standard business rates, and from energy efficiency programs that reduce operating costs.

Do these savings apply to all licensed cultivators?

Yes. Both indoor and outdoor licensed cultivators who meet PG&E’s requirements can access agricultural rates.

Are the savings ongoing or one-time?

The agricultural rate provides long-term, ongoing savings on your monthly energy bill. Energy efficiency upgrades may also qualify for additional program incentives.

Who can help me calculate potential savings?

Grow Light Central can walk you through rate options and efficiency programs. It’s also recommended to consult with a qualified electrician to ensure your service is properly sized.
